My Top 5 Strengths

Why I Chose These 5 Strengths

Achiever

Checking things off of my to-do list gives me a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. I thrive to be productive and efficient in my work as the result continues to motivate me to become better. In order for me to fully enjoy leisure, I need to complete the tasks I’m assigned with or work I’m obligated to do first. For example, I ensure to complete the majority of my assignments before I go out with my friends on the weekends. This puts my mind at peace and allows me to fully enjoy my time without constantly thinking about deadlines.

Discipline

I have a clear list of negotiables and nonnegotiables in life. I tend to stick with standards I hold and thrive to achieve them rather than settling for less. This includes the consistent habits I do in my daily life that I do not question and just stick to as I believe it will push me to become better day by day. Good things don’t come easily, hence I push myself to do it regardless of being unmotivated or tired. One example would be going to the gym at least 3-4 times a week to strengthen myself and become a healthier me.

Responsibility

People tend to rely on me and trust that I am someone who will get things done. I believe in keeping promises and becoming trustworthy through my responsible actions. Before I make any major decisions, I often weigh my options by critically analyzing to see which one is more beneficial for all stakeholders involved. For instance, I will take full responsibility for my work when it comes to any group project in classes or work. I ensure that my part is completed neatly on time for the continuation of the team’s progress. I dislike being a disruption or a burden to others.

Relator

I value a few genuine and close connections over many shallow ones. I especially enjoy learning and understanding the thought process and different perspectives of the people I talk to. It takes time, effort, and good communication to build strong, long-lasting relationships. Yet, I prefer to invest in those few, but quality ones where I can truly be myself and connect on a deeper level. I found myself being more comfortable and vulnerable when it comes to one-on-one interactions as I am able to share stories and thoughts more openly than in a group setting. I personally think the strong connections I made with my close friends come from spending a lot of time together and sharing stories that we would not feel comfortable telling other people about.

Activator

I enjoy having my time being spent productively or meaningfully. I believe in using the time I have to make good memories that I can look back on in the future. Although a lot of discussion is fun and nice, I want to see actions being put in place. As a result, when I have any idea or goal, I enjoy making plans of how to achieve it and get started with the plan immediately. I want to see the result as soon as possible which makes me want to get started as soon as possible. A fun example would be booking the places my friends and I wanted to go instead of just talking about it over and over again. The process of just booking it gave us a sense of excitement and something to look forward to.

What I Want to Develop Next

I would like to grow in self-assurance, meaning I want to trust the skills I already have instead of overthinking and second-guessing myself. I often know I’m capable of doing something, but I still find myself questioning it. Before an exam, I would feel anxious and constantly doubt myself regardless of how much I studied for it; yet it turned out fine. I would like to see myself being more confident in the skills and knowledge I possess. To change this, I plan to keep a running list of my wins in my phone’s notes app and review it each week and before big tasks. Because those wins are real evidence of what I can do, I think my discipline will help me stick with the habit until my confidence catches up with my ability.
